July 13 Hi my name is Susan and I'm a Slack Blogger...Why is it that I can upload every picture I've ever taken, but I can't seem to do any blog entries? Guess it's b/c I say pretty much what I want said on the Hottie board.
Anyway, just wanted to wish you guys a great day. And let you know that I do indeed know how to work this thing, even though I don't do it very often!
XOXOXO May 31 Start Spreadin' the News.... (NYC trip)So I decided to spend Memorial Day weekend in NYC with my brother, Judson. My friend Travis works for Delta and gave me a Companion Pass to fly standby - Mistake #1! I got to the airport at 10:00 Friday morning (left my house at 6:00, since the airport is 4 hours away. Ah, the joys of living in smalltown USA!)
When I arrived at the airport in Atlanta, the flight before mine was on a 2-hour delay and Delta had cancelled the flight right after mine. So, all of those folks were bumped to other flights, which meant yours truly got bumped off of the 11:30 flight to LaGuardia! So, I finally get booked on a 2:30 flight to JFK airport; meanwhile, my luggage was SUPPOSEDLY pulled off the plane and is not heading to LaGuardia - Mistake #2!
After a couple of weather delays, we finally take off and I arrive at JFK airport in NYC at 6:00 pm (4 hours after I was oringally supposed to land). And, NO BAGS! So, I'm instructed to wait until the 7:15 flight from Atlanta comes in and see if my bags made it on. No one told me that the 7:15 got cancelled, so I waited for nothing. I finally got to my brother's apartment at 8:30 without bags!
On Saturday morning, my bags were finally located (they were not pulled off my original flight to LaGuardia, so they had been sitting in that airport since 2:30 pm on Friday). After I was able to change clothes, I felt much better and my vacation could really begin!
I'll sum it up in 3 words: EAT, EAT, EAT! We did lots of walking around the city and ate at truly wonderful places (Town for breakfast, Ariba Ariba for margaritas and dinner, Houston's for lunch, and Tao for dinner. Plus Flute for champagne and Amy's Bakery for the BEST chocolate cake and gingersnaps I've ever had!)
I made it back home on Monday (Memorial Day) with much less hoop-la than my adventure on Friday. As always it was alot of fun to visit (and especially to see my wonderful brother), but it's GREAT to be home! May 11 The first step...I did it! I finally created my own space! Thanks, Hotties for all of your help! |
